My adventure on the Viking Cruise Line longship Alruna and Tialfi.  Yes, yes I actually had the pleasure of being on two longships while cruising the Rhine River.....well almost cruising.....

So this is how the story goes.  I was notified that because of low water levels on the river I would be bused a little bit.  This did not discourage me as I am a traveler, I wear this title proudly and every trip I take is another adventure full of laughs and memories.  I was also notified upon arrival in Basel, Switzerland that I would be boarding the sister ship Alruna to my original ship Tialfi, and that I would indeed be on the Tialfi in a couple days.

As I landed in Basel I was met by a representative of Viking who escorted me to the bus I was to take to Breisach, Germany.  I would miss Basel completely however, since Breisach sits on the edge of the Black Forest I was not inconvenienced one bit.....remember my title is TRAVELER.

A very comfortable ride I can assure you.

Ahhhh, here she is.  Yes a tad foggy, but
doesn't that add to the allure of the Black
Forest?  Yes I think so.

I chose to unpack and explore the longship instead of walking around the town.  I had a very nice light lunch in the dining room.  The briefing was at 6:00 pm and I was not going to miss hearing about all the cool things I was going to do.

Meet Bob, when I looked across the Rhine River (onto the beautiful landscape of France!) I noticed several swans.  One began swimming over to my french balcony and proceeded to squawk at me.  I decided his name was Bob, or her name whatever, and we had quite a nice chat about how cold the water was which didn't seem to bother Bob.

The longboat was decorated quite festively and the staff was amazing.  The 'port talk' was very informative and as I was traveling with 7 other friends we had a fun time at dinner with lots of laughs.

Until tomorrow..............
